What has been brewing since 2013 when The Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency selected a proposal for a new mix use development, was awarded to iPic Theaters. Butters Construction & Development was awarded the construction job last week.
The new complex, located on Atlantic Ave and 5th Street at the core of Delray Beach, will feature an IPIC theater with over 500 seats, in addition to 43,000 Square Feet of Class A office space, over 7,000 Square Feet of Retail space and a Parking Garage structure that was awarded to FinFrock. The entire complex will come to approximately 210,000 sq. ft. with start date in May 2017 and delivery in about 18 months.
The project will also create hundreds of jobs. IPic, being a social destination, and a truly unique entertainment experience, will also be the first upscale theater in the downtown Delray area.
The garage complex will alleviate traffic in the currently congested area, and the project will feature many public areas including a rooftop park/ green area. Other remarkable positive affects of this project will include economic diversity, a family friendly entertainment option for the community, $1 million in sales taxes contributed annually, peaked activity during the slowest months of the year and much more.
